county records are very confusing. changes in electoral divisions,townland names and spellings. It's all very hit and miss in my case. I suppose patience,perseverance and good fortune should be the watchwords.

Right John, even county borders may have changed over time - so especially when researching older times and near a border it's advisable to have a look at the neighboring counties too.

C.O.I. parishes are usually the same as Civil parishes, R.C. on the other hand are not, alot of R.C. parishes can cross borders, so if a family lived in an area close to a border of another County check out the other County too, same with civil registration, some people registered births & deaths in another county as it was closer than the registry office in their own county.
