James Mc Laughlin was born in Ireland to Philip Mc Laughlin & Margaret Mullan, place and date of birth not known.
His two siblings were born in the 1840s and living in the parish of Drumachose (Limavady) Co. Derry in the 1880s.
In 1882 James was a witness at his sister Sarah’s wedding in Limavady R.C. Church.
According to the marriage certificate he was living in Salford in that year.
