Just re-read your post, your looking more information on Barclay McAulay I take it, the fact he was born in 1820 is highly unlikely that you will get any church records that far back Kev.

Jane was born in Greenock. My paternal grandmother Mary Eliza came over from redcastle sometime before 1945 and must of met Richard through her x

Hello Kev_1983
Am I reading correctly.

Jane McAuley married James Donnelly 1909 ( 1909 Pollokshields, Lanark, Scotland )
and Jane's parents = John McAulay & Mary DUFFY married in 1857

Parents of Mary DUFFY = BARCLAY & Ann Shannon
------------
Question 1. Was DUFFY a name from a previous marriage
Question 2. Apart from the 1909 Scotland marriage where were the others.

So far the earliest marriage I can find (Scotlandspeople) for Anne Shannon was 1840 & 1844 but not to Duffy or Barclay.
Looked for birth of Jane McAulay 1883 in Greenock found two 1877 & 1893
(1893 is a NO..Then ran out of credit so 1877 not checked)
